Dan Mahoney, CFP®
Founder and President
I founded True Square Financial in 2017. After more than 15 years in the financial services industry, I know that custom-tailored financial advice, delivered by an expert, can meaningfully improve most families’ lives. Unfortunately, this kind of high quality, individualized advice has historically been restricted to only the wealthiest families. I built True Square Financial around the idea that technology now makes it possible to deliver comprehensive, customized financial advice to a larger number of families at a reasonable cost.
I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. I am also the proud father of triplets (two girls and a boy) who are currently in elementary school. When I’m not wrangling children or nerding out on personal finance and investments, I can be found playing squash, smoking meat on the Big Green Egg, or doing something outdoors. I live with my wife and children in Atlanta, Georgia.
I advise my clients across all areas of their financial lives:
- Tax planning
- Real estate
- Insurance and annuities
- Education planning and funding (college and private school)
- Student loans
- Retirement planning
- Estate planning and trusts
I earned an A.B. in economics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. I am a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® (with plaque design) and CFP®(with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is the country’s leading professional association of Fee-Only financial advisors.
